Hello Guys!

Today I should  like to introduce you to one of the oldest galleries nestled in "namma chennai" . Apparao group of galleries is one of those jewels that chennai shall learn to treasure as our people begin tuning into art apart from their mundane lives.

It was established in the year 1984 at a humble corner of Wallace Gardens, Nungambakkam. When you walk into this pretty little space, it gives you the feel of a warm cafe serving its main customer "Art".  A lovely pumpkin like installation is tucked in a  corner of the entrance.Apparao rightly boasts of curating shows around the world and across India, with two of its branches spreading to Mumbai and Delhi.

The gallery's founder Ms Sharan Apparao's  dedication to this form of soul expression speaks in the sparkling  visibility of the gallery in all its raw glory within the world of art. They spread awareness of art, its value and contribution to society and community at large and the need for people to be more involved with it.  Now, listen up people from the other world! the artists may have to know of emerging galleries, but dear dudes and dudettes of Chennai!; you can take the liberty to enjoy creative visuals offered like a shadow of the peepal tree.

Go on a date, or have a contemplative chat with your friend, enjoy a book or wonder looking at broad canvases  under the silence of galleries in Chennai. ( But remember not to over do it! it's a gallery guys, not a cafe, If you find an affordable piece of art which happenes only at times, do shell some money and buy) Just a decent walk in for quarter or half an hour should be enough for you to start a personal conversation with the gallery as a living entity.

Among the shows which have been happening this month, as released by Times City : Islands of Light – an exhibition of photographs and paintings by Ashish Dubey and Masreen Mohamedi is one that you shall start from. It goes on till September 25th!.The Gallery opens at 11 and closes at 7pm, to know more details visit www.apparaogalleries.com/

Enjoy!
